Our drivers will be picking up your red bag on Saturday, OCTOBER 9th, so please mark your calendars. On that day we will also celebrate our **6th Anniversary!** Since ASG's inception, you've collectively provided over 310,000 total lbs of food and personal items to those in need -- amazing! We are deeply grateful for six fruitful years of partnering with all of you in fighting hunger in our community.
CURRENT NEEDS: Jams/jellies, tuna, soup, chili, canned cranberries, gravy, canned corn, canned green beans, Jell-O, paper towels, Kleenex-type tissues, and toilet paper. Frozen turkeys and hams are also needed, however please drop these items off directly during food bank hours (noted below). You may also refer to the foods listed on the tag attached to your red bag for other items.
(Please note, the food bank currently has an abundance of the following, and does NOT NEED: canned fruit, crackers, canned tomatoes, pork & beans, pinto/black/kidney beans)
SPECIAL REQUEST: **Please remember these are EXTRA items to add to your bag should you choose. Otherwise, please focus on food needs.**
October's special request is our 6th annual granola bar collection for our friends at Food To Go - Anacortes, who provide weekend food bags each week for local students in need.
As usual, the following are some important details about our upcoming pick up:
If you will be missing Saturday, October 9th's pick up, please be sure to email us to let us know so we do not stop by your home. If you've already notified us and received a confirmation back, you do not need to notify us again.
Please use your reusable ASG red bag. If you dropped off last time and didn't grab a replacement bag at the food bank office, feel free to use another type of bag, but please clearly mark it with "ASG" so our drivers know it's okay to take from your porch!
NO Sunday or Monday make up days this month. If you do not have your bag out on your porch by 9:00am Saturday, or it's missed, we regret we will be unable to pick it up later. You may either drop it off directly at the food bank (details below), or wait until our next pickup day.
If you prefer to drop your bag off directly to The Salvation Army's (TSA) food bank instead of having us pick it up on October 9th, feel free to do so, but please email us to let us know you will not need pickup at your home. TSA has a cart outside their front office door for drop offs. They're located at 3001 R Avenue, and their regular office hours are Mon - Thurs, 9am-4pm (closed 12-1pm for lunch). Replacement red bags for next time are available just inside TSA's office door in their lobby.
While we prefer to receive red bags filled with food, as that's what ASG is best organized to do, we still gratefully accept monetary donations via either our Square website at https://a-simple-gesture-anacortes.square.site or check, payable to A Simple Gesture - Anacortes, mailed to P.O. Box 1413, Anacortes, WA 98221.
