We are BLOWN AWAY by the generosity of our ASG donors! In answer to our drop off request last week, your donations have been steadily coming into the food bank and filling their shelves. So far, that amounts to 1,400 lbs of food and 120 lbs of household goods. You've even given toilet paper, paper towels, and sugar! You are a wonderfully big-hearted bunch!
We have also received many monetary donations through our ASG website -- again, such an amazing response. These donations are enabling us to buy food to fill in any "gaps" at the food bank and keep our Red Bag Pantries stocked daily. We are also helping to temporarily supplement other food pantries around our community during this pandemic.
INFORMATION TO PASS ALONG:
ASG's Red Bag Pantries are located outside the entrance of both the Anacortes Public Library and the Fire Station (1016 13th St). These are for anyone in need and can be accessed at any time. (Please do NOT leave donations at these locations; for safety purposes, they need to be processed through the food bank first and stocked by ASG volunteers.)
We are partnering with the Anacortes Family Center (AFC) to provide Emergency Food Boxes for anyone in our community (elderly neighbors, families, individuals, etc.) who needs the help. To request a box, email samantha@anacortesfamily.org and she will respond with instructions on where/when to pick it up.
If you still need to drop off your donation, The Salvation Army now has a cart outside their front office door for drop offs -- no need to go inside. Please be sure to use paper or plastic bags marked with "ASG" and drop off during TSA's office hours (Mon - Thurs, 9am-4pm) so your donations do not sit out overnight. Their address is 3001 R Avenue.
While this pandemic may be forcing us apart physically, it has strengthened community connections in many good ways, and you are all proof of this. Thank you for your extra help during this trying time!
