Thank you to all of the helpers out there in our community and beyond. Because of our donors, our food bank is currently stocked. However, we do anticipate the need to greatly increase in the coming weeks. Our Board of Directors is brainstorming ways to provide more food to those most impacted. For the time being, here is what is currently being done.
Because our Red Bag Pantries are closed due to their public locations, we have prepared emergency food boxes for those in need. Anacortes Family Center has agreed to have these boxes available on their porch for those that request one. Please email Sam@AnacortesFamily.org or call us at 360-399-6463. Anacortes Family Center will write your name on their box and leave it outside on their porch as their office is currently closed to the public.
We have provided more food to the residents at the Anacortes Family Center as well as brought food to the residents at Harbor House, a public housing apartment complex designated for disabled and/or elderly (age 62 or older) in our community.
Anacortes School District will continue their breakfast and lunch services. Food to Go - Anacortes is delivering weekend food bags to the students they serve in our school district. More info: http://www.asd103.org/covid19response
We will update you on how we will collect food for our April pick-up day.
If you want to donate sooner, you can drop off food donations at The Salvation Army. Call ahead as their office hours may change as the situation evolves. (360) 293-6682 https://anacortes.salvationarmy.org/anacortes_corps/
Thank you for all of your support. Please stay healthy!
