Next Pick U: Saturday October 14

Our October pick-up, as well as our 8th Year Anniversary, is approaching quickly, and the need is great -- the food bank's shelves are as bare as we've ever seen them in the weeks leading up to a pick-up day. We are always deeply grateful to you because we know those shelves won't be bare for much longer! Our drivers will be stopping by to pick up your filled red bag on Saturday, OCTOBER 14th, so please mark your calendars.

Also, October's "Special Request" is our annual granola bar collection for our friends at Food To Go - Anacortes, who provide weekly food bags for approximately 200 local students in need during both the school year and the summer months. We encourage you to include granola bars for our community's kids in your red bags!

CURRENT NEEDS: Meals-in-a-Can (Raviolios, spaghetti-o's, etc.) Chili Cereal Fruit and Fruit Cups Coffee/Tea/Hot Chocolate (all types, including single serve coffee (not K cups)) Juice (boxed and bottled) Peanut Butter Jelly/Jam Crackers (all types, including graham) Granola Bars/Breakfast/Protein Bars Soups (all types) Spaghetti Sauce Rice-a-Roni, Pasta Roni, and Hamburger Helper Canned Meats (chicken, beef, Spam) Tuna Cup O' Noodles Ramen Milk (all types) Ensure Corn Baking goods (all types of sugars, flour, oil, etc.) Holiday foods (pumpkin, stuffing, cranberries, condensed milk, jello) Rice and Dry Pasta SPECIAL REQUEST: Granola Bars for Food To Go! NOT NEEDED: The food bank currently has adequate amounts of the following, and at this time does NOT need: NO Mac & Cheese NO beans (besides baked) NO canned tomato products (besides spaghetti sauce) As usual, the following are some important details about our upcoming pick up:

  • If you will be missing Saturday, October 14th's pick-up, please be sure to email us to let us know so we do not needlessly stop by your home. If you've already notified us via email, you do not need to notify us again.

  • If you prefer to drop your bag off directly to The Salvation Army (TSA) food bank instead of having us pick it up on October 14th, feel free to do so, but please email us to let us know you will not need pick-up at your home. This does not apply to those donors who have "Drop Off Status," as confirmed by A Simple Gesture.

Finally, we gratefully accept monetary donations, which can be made via either our ASG Square site or check payable to A Simple Gesture - Anacortes, mailed to P.O. Box 1413, Anacortes, WA 98221.
